Kelli is pregnant!

It has been a long two years but it finally happened- I'm pregnant! We are so excited to be able to share the news with everyone now that I am 13 weeks along! We found out on January 20- inauguration day and Kari's birthday! We kept the news to ourselves because we were going to wait until Kelli's parents were back from vacation but after a few days, we changed our minds and called Jamaica, told Kari & Frank, Chad's parents and Chad's brother Brad. We wanted to wait to tell everyone else until we were safely past the first few months when miscarriage is more likely to occur. It was important for us to do that since it was such a difficult and emotional time dealing with infertility. So far so good with the pregnancy, and I just hope it stays that way! I had an ultrasound(u/s) at 11 weeks. The ultrasound was to have an accurate Estimated Due Date (EDD) which I had calculated to be September 27, 2009 (my mom's birthday) and the u/s tech said that late September was right on track. (between 9/25/09-9/27/09). The baby's measurements are right on track and the heart rate was 160.

I ordered a gender predictor called IntelliGender just for fun. It's a urine test that turns green for a boy and orange for a girl. We will find out the gender for sure on May 7, 2009 (I hope!). So it will be interesting to find out if the IntelliGender was accurate. I took the test last Wednesday and it was definitely green for BOY! I told Chad when he came home from work and he had a big grin on his face (of course!)

My new thing

So, the start of 2009 was motivation to start this blog.... as well as a few other reasons. I'd normally be at church right now being that it is a Sunday at 10am. However, due to the icy roads and the fact that I have been sick, I am at home instead. So, I have the time... even though there are plenty of other things I could be doing! Another reason for starting the blog is to share what is going on with our infertility and our journey of foster parenting.
